We heard from Todd Burns. He is the founder and CEO of Cypher Environmental Ltd. – a Winnipeg based firm that manufactures and distributes its cleantech solutions in over 50 countries worldwide.

Through his work with Cypher, Todd understands the nuances required to create adoption of cleantech solutions across a broad range of sectors, including mining. Todd has recently participated as an advisor in the Global Cleantech Advisory Group. Currently Todd is on the selection panel committee for the Global Hypergrowth Project for the Canadian Federal Government and is a dedicated member of and advisor to the Mine Supply Trade Association of Canada.

After a summer break, the Manitoba Prospectors and Developers Association is back. Our regular monthly meetings continue on the first Tuesday of each month (with breaks in January and summer).

On Tuesday June 7th, Norm Mercer talked about the boom in Newfoundland & Labrador

2021 was a banner year for the mineral industry in Newfoundland and Labrador, with over 800 mineral exploration applications last year. Exploration expenditures nearly doubled from 2020, to just over $127 million. Mineral claim staking activity reached its highest point since the Voisey’s Bay claims 25 years ago. The value of mineral shipments were the highest ever recorded.

On Tuesday May 3rd we heard from Rob Houle.

Talon has over 25 years of experience working for and with First Nations across Canada. Talon’s partners have successfully raised millions of dollars in North America for resource projects.

On Tuesday April 5th we heard from Kate Parkinson from Sandvic speak about the changes that are taking place in the mining industry with regards to Battery Electric vehicles across Canada.

Electric vehicles are critical to mining reaching net zero, with diesel vehicles accounting for 30%-50% of greenhouse emissions at a mine site.
